Life & Writing Update
Hey guys!
It's been a long time since I last posted, so I thought I would take a minute to update you guys on where my writing and personal life are at!
2019 has seriously flown by, and has brought so many new and exciting things to me along the way. As far as my writing goes, I finished up the draft of my YA contemporary fantasy WIP at the beginning of summer and decided to take a writing break until September. At first I really struggled with that because I wasn't making any progress on my books and therefore felt like a fake writer and a failure.
But in reality, books are a lot of work, and they are a different kind of work for every person. Once I settled into the routine of taking a break, and actually started taking a break, (for anyone who sincerely struggles to stop working and take breaks, you know what I mean) I realized how necessary a recharge is. Not only is this step away from my book helping me mentally, but I know that when I inevitably go back to working on it, I'll see things in a fresh, new way. This break has also given me a chance to brainstorm other projects and dabble with a few lines here and there just for fun.
Taking the summer off felt like too long at first, but now that I'm nearing the end of my break, I'm getting excited to jump back into edits and make my book as sparkling and shiny as it can be!
On the personal side of things, I'm heading into some super big life changes, which is another reason why I haven't been blogging or writing much. Within the next few weeks (hopefully) I will be moving into my own apartment! This is a big step I've wanted to take for a long time, and I'm so amazed and excited by how perfectly everything has timed and worked out. I'm currently waiting to get my move-in date, and it's honestly such a difficult wait. I'm so excited to dive into this new chapter! (Especially because my apartment is within walking distance of a coffee shop. RIP my paycheck.)
Once I get settled into my new place, I plan on sitting down and prepping some posts for you guys. I haven't talked about writing or writing advice on here in a while, and I miss it! Let me know in the comments if there's anything specific you want to see! :)
