Beautiful People (Friendship edition): Av and Hayden
Hey guys! Today I wanted to join in on this month's Beautiful People link-up (hosted by Cait @ Paper Fury and Sky @ Further Up and Further In) This month's questions are friendship themed, so I decided to answer for Avalon and Hayden, who are best friends in the final book in my Perfection Trilogy, Restored. (You can read a little more about those books here.) And now, for the questions!
1. How long have they known each other, and how close are they? Since Hayden doesn't show up until the third and final book in the series, he and Av haven't been best friends all their lives. Despite that, they're (in Hayden's words) super tight bff's.
2. What’s their earliest memory of being best friends? Like I said, Hayden doesn't show up until book three, at the start of which he's known Avalon for just about a year. So their earliest memory is when they met, which happened when Hayden accidentally crashed into Avalon on his skateboard.
3. Do they fight? How long do they typically fight for? Not really. They get into tiny fights, but those only last for a day or two.
4. Are their personalities similar or do they compliment each other? Avalon's personality does a lot of changing throughout all three books, and in the third book she's a very pessimistic and frustrated person whereas Hayden is super optimistic, happy, and extroverted. They are the human forms of a cat and a dog, and it's fantastic.
5. Who is the leader of their friendship (if anyone)? Avalon, naturally, because she's nineteen whereas Hayden is fifteen. She looks after him like he's her little brother.
6. Do they have any secrets from each other? ...HAHAHAHA. Ohhh man. Um, yes. There are definitely secrets that they keep from each other. And by secrets I mean very important details that are key to the plot of the story.
7. How well do they know each other’s quirks and habits? Very well. Hayden is Avalon's only friend, and they see each other pretty much every day.
8. What kind of things do they like to do together? Usually hang out around town, get coffee, etc. Most of the time Hayden is bugging Avalon about things while she tries to get him to actually go to school for once.
9. Describe each character’s fashion style (use pictures if you’d like!) How are their styles different/similar? Avalon wears a lot of black, as well as a lot of denim, tank tops, and scarves. Her style is well-put-together and appropriate. Hayden, however, probably gets ready in the morning by picking different shirts up off his floor and smelling them to see which one smells the least dirty. Usually he ends up in jeans or shorts and a wrinkly t-shirt.
10. How would their lives be different without each other? Honestly, I don't think Avalon would have made it without Hayden. At the beginning of the third book she's in a completely new place surrounded by a lot of new faces and stress, and Hayden is just this happy, innocent light of joy and fun. Without him, Avalon would be deep in darkness. For Hayden, Avalon is his whole life. She's a girl who actually pays him attention; someone who actually enjoys his company and cares about what he has to say. Without her, Hayden wouldn't have a family.
